she's a dreamer

her head is filled with thoughts and her heart with hopes and wishes. she walks along the steel tracks picking vivid wildflowers along the way and humming a song from her childhood.
she doesnt stop to think of what shes doing; as long as shes happy she does not care. she finds a rusting penny and puts it in her pocket, not noticing that it was tail's side up. she didn't believe in luck, anyways.

the unholy truthi think that maybe, sometimes, God purposly does things to piss people off, and he's sitting up on his throne of clouds with his crown of stars laughing at all of us, starting wild fires and tornadoes and hurricanes and earthquakes, just to show us all that he is the powerful one, and the people that think they know it all annoy the one big guy that actually does: Him.
i thought this up while i was driving up the highway, while the sun was blazing in my eyes. i tried putting the visor down but no, the son of a gun was too low in the sky for that. so if just stayed there, staring me in the face, like it was trying to read me like the unholy truth

frontal cortexi look around. it's unfamiliar. strange. i'm confused. i find myself wishing i had packed a sweater like my mother always warned me to do. "it might get cold out later, love. be sure to bring one along with you in your pack." i wish she had told me that no matter where you were, the world would stay bitterly cold.
i start to walk. the linoleum-like floors beneath me are barely any support. i feel small. i wonder if i click my heels together ill suddenly find myself home. but my hand-me-down keds are hardly ruby slippers. at least dorothy had that dumb dog to keep her company.

little rockher name is alana.
she's got permanent bags under her dull blue eyes that have sank back into their sockets. her pale skin is stretched atop of brittle bones. she looks like an apparation. her translucent hair is thin and straight, falling across her boney back. behind her back they call her gossamer girl; she has made herself invisible by trying to stand out. there is something imperfect about her idea of perfection.
she spends her nights in the bathroom hugging the toilet, emptying her virtually-empty stomach. she uses the towel rack to support her fragile body as she gets up. sh little rock
